This Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) outlines the rules and guidelines for the use of ISTN’s services, including IT Helpdesk, VoIP, NOC, and Security Services. By using ISTN’s services, customers agree to abide by this policy. Failure to comply may result in suspension or termination of services.

  • Purpose

  • The purpose of this AUP is to ensure that ISTN’s services are used lawfully, securely, and in a way that supports business operations. The rules in this policy are designed to prevent misuse, protect users, and maintain the security and performance of our systems.

  • Prohibited Activities

  • Users may not use ISTN’s services for the following purposes:

    • Illegal or Unlawful Activities

      • Engaging in or promoting illegal activities (e.g., fraud, hacking, identity theft).
      • Violating any local, state, national, or international laws.
    • Spam, Phishing, and Spoofing

      • Sending unsolicited bulk emails or spam.
      • Using the services to phish or spoof identities (e.g., fraudulent VoIP calls).
      • Creating or distributing malware or viruses.
    • Unauthorized Access and Security Violations

      • Attempting to gain unauthorized access to ISTN’s infrastructure or other clients’ systems.
      • Scanning or probing networks for security vulnerabilities without permission.
      • Tampering with or disabling security features.
    • VoIP Misuse

      • Using ISTN’s VoIP services for fraudulent calls, spam calling, or activities that violate E911 compliance.
      • Overloading call systems with excessive traffic to disrupt services.
  • Security Requirements

  • To maintain service integrity and security, users must adhere to the following security practices:

    • Account Credentials

      • Users must keep login credentials secure and must not share passwords with unauthorized parties.
      • Any suspected compromise of login credentials must be reported immediately to ISTN Support.
    • Software Updates and Patches

      • Users are required to keep systems and devices updated with the latest security patches.
    • Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)

      • Where applicable, users must enable MFA for accessing ISTN’s systems and services.
    • Monitoring and Auditing

      • ISTN reserves the right to monitor service usage to detect security incidents, suspicious activities, and policy violations.
  • Resource Usage

  • ISTN’s services must not be used in a way that interferes with normal operations, including:

    • Bandwidth Consumption: Users may not use excessive bandwidth that negatively impacts other customers.
    • Network Abuse: Activities that degrade network performance, such as denial-of-service (DoS) attacks, are prohibited.
  • Compliance with Applicable Laws

  • Users are responsible for ensuring that their use of ISTN’s services complies with applicable local, state, and international laws. This includes but is not limited to data protection regulations (e.g., GDPR and CCPA) and telecommunication laws (e.g., FCC compliance for VoIP).

  • Consequences of Policy Violations

  • Violation of this AUP may result in the following actions:

    • Warning or Notification: Users will receive written notice of policy violations and must take corrective action immediately.
    • Service Suspension: ISTN reserves the right to suspend services until the violation is resolved.
    • Termination of Service: Severe or repeated violations may result in service termination without refund.
    • Legal Action: ISTN may take legal action against users who engage in illegal activities or cause damage to our systems or reputation.
  • Reporting Violations

  • If you suspect a violation of this AUP, please contact ISTN Legal team immediately:
    ISTN takes violations seriously and will investigate all reports promptly.

  • Changes to This Policy

  • ISTN reserves the right to modify or update this AUP at any time. Changes will be posted on our website, and continued use of our services constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
